header_6_text_shadow_vertical_length_tablet=\u00bb0px\u00bb header_6_text_shadow_blur_strength=\u00bbheader_6_text_shadow_style,%91object Object%93&#8243; header_6_text_shadow_blur_strength_tablet=\u00bb1px\u00bb box_shadow_horizontal_tablet=\u00bb0px\u00bb box_shadow_vertical_tablet=\u00bb0px\u00bb box_shadow_blur_tablet=\u00bb40px\u00bb box_shadow_spread_tablet=\u00bb0px\u00bb z_index_tablet=\u00bb500&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The goal of this project was to provide a well-sound <strong>methodological framework for the treatment of complexity <\/strong>by policy makers and social scientists, endowed with an updated <strong>theoretical body of knowledge<\/strong>, a set of tools that would enable <strong>scenario simulation<\/strong>, and a collection of <strong>case studies<\/strong> to guide and demonstrate the applicability of the framework. This framework was <strong>based on agent-oriented modeling and simulation<\/strong> methods and tools.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Agent oriented modeling provided a conceptual framework for <strong>analysis and simulation of complex social systems.<\/strong> This came from the fact that agent related concepts allowed the representation of organisational and behavioural aspects of individuals in a society and their interactions. This motivated in the last years the development of a wide range of software languages, shells and libraries to simulate agent-based models.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, all presented two difficulties for being widely accepted by social scientists: the end-user should have certain programming skills, and these software frameworks had been implemented forgetting the social specifications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>INSISOC<\/strong> gathered its <strong>wide experience in<\/strong> the application of <strong>agent-based simulation tools<\/strong> for the study of complex social systems in order to define the scientific method <strong>for the analysis of social phenomena and policy making.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=\u00bb4.0.9&#8243; box_shadow_horizontal_tablet=\u00bb0px\u00bb box_shadow_vertical_tablet=\u00bb0px\u00bb box_shadow_blur_tablet=\u00bb40px\u00bb box_shadow_spread_tablet=\u00bb0px\u00bb z_index_tablet=\u00bb500&#8243;][et_pb_column type=\u00bb1_2&#8243; custom_padding__hover=\u00bb|||\u00bb custom_padding=\u00bb|||\u00bb][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u00bb4.0.9&#8243; text_orientation=\u00bbleft\u00bb]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">SiCoSSys project produced a set of <strong>tools<\/strong> and <strong>simulation models of social systems<\/strong> using techniques of agent-based modeling:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The meta-model editor <strong>INGENME<\/strong><br \/>\n<a style=\"text-align: right;\" href=\"http:\/\/ingenme.sourceforge.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/ingenme.sourceforge.net<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The systems editor self-managed <strong>self-MML<br \/>\n<\/strong><a style=\"text-align: right;\" href=\"http:\/\/selfmml.sourceforge.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/selfmml.sourceforge.net<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>The social network simulator <strong>Krowdix<br \/>\n<\/strong><a style=\"text-align: right;\" href=\"http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/krowdix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/krowdix\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This was accompanied by a <strong>library of mechanisms for social interaction<\/strong> ready to reuse, and a <strong>collection of case studies of interest<\/strong> for both social and computer scientists, which could benefit stakeholders in public administration and EPOs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Case studies integrated the sociological foundations (developed by UAB) of artificial societies, with a methodology where a modeling framework provided by UCM played a central role.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We also developed models of complex systems that validated <strong>SiCoSSys methodology<\/strong> in several application areas: water management, financial markets, changing values in society, social networking, team working, flexible manufacturing systems and emergency management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project generated a prolific scientific output: more than <strong>40 articles in journals indexed in JCR<\/strong>, and over <strong>50 international conferences.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This also facilitated the participation in <strong>project consortia<\/strong> and <strong>networks of excellence<\/strong> in the Seventh European Research Framework Programme.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=\u00bb1_2&#8243;
